DANDELION ACRES HOMESTEAD & RESCUE

A Menagerie of Chaos

Our goal is to become a safe place for the underdog, animal and human alike. We are a queer, neurodivergent, and disabled run hobby farm and rescue, and are proud to share the beauty of our animals and their stories. We are thrilled to be living our dream and share all we know about making our animal friends lives, richer!

ABOUT US

We are a dedicated pair of individuals who have dedicated our lives to helping people and animals in need. While we specialize in Pot-Bellied Pigs, we have a diverse family, here at the farm.

Started in early 2023, as a way to save ourselves from being houseless, we bought our dream property and began the incredible journey of owning and operating an animal rescue.

With nearly 100 animals, including ducks and chickens, we hope to spread the beauty of our chaos across the world.

We are grateful to have been accepted with open arms into our Westville community in Nova Scotia and hope to serve for years to come.

WHO WE HELP

SOME OF THE MANY FARM FACES

PIGS A-PLENTY

With approximately 60 pigs, it often feels like a daycare around the farm. These wonderful and mischievous creatures are not for the faint-hearted, and will give you a run for your money. They are incredibly intelligent and misunderstood animals that do well with an experienced family and lots of attention.

Pot-Bellied pigs and Juliana pigs, also known as "mini-pigs", come in a wide array of colours, sizes, and temperaments and make great additions to the right home.

Pigs are notoriously emotional, playful, and smart as a whip, which can make the rehoming process a traumatic one, for these animals.

We do everything we can to accommodate everyone without compromising anyone's quality of life.

FRESH OFF THE GOAT

The farm is blessed to have 5 incredible goats free-roaming the property. While they will get into almost anything, we appreciate their friendly dispositions and familial energy.

While breed isn't something we focus on, we believe our goats to be a mix of Nigerian Dwarf and Alpine.

Goats often make incredible mothers, and are known for their impressive milk production.

THE BUN-SHACK

We have several rescued rabbits on the property, all with a unique, and often sad, story.

We are lucky to have had some adoption success with these gentle creatures, but often struggle to keep up with the rate in which people rehome rabbits.
